Improving Efficiency With an Internal Management Platform
The Floral Supply Company, an import-export agency that supplies cut flowers to wholesalers across Europe, approached Sigli to build an internal management system. Sigli built a platform that allowed the Floral Supply Company's managers to access data from multiple sources, gain full logistics oversight, and communicate across the organisation quickly.

The client is a mid-market enterprise in Italy that supplies cut flowers to a European client base. With its advanced logistics system and patented packaging, it is able to deliver flowers within 48 hours of cutting, which is half the industry average.
The company operates a number of brands and offers a large assortment of cut flowers. It is an essential link between greenhouses and flower wholesalers. It describes its mission as “Innovating in the world of flowers and putting our expertise in the hands of our partners and customers.”
The client’s internal management system lacked important functionality. Part of the company’s mission is understanding client needs at a granular level and providing the best products at competitive prices. It also offers consulting services to assist with client needs.
To achieve this, it needed a digital management portal capable of collecting data in a single place. It needed oversight of client buying patterns, warehouse activity and the status of goods in transit.
Sigli adopted a four-phase approach:
The project ran from March 2020 until September 2020.
This was held in person to understand the technical, business and user needs of the proposed platform. Sigli was eager to achieve alignment between user experience (UX) and the end users.
After outlining high-level needs, Sigli built the DevOps infrastructure needed for development and to run the app.
This phase involved the development of the application.
After implementation, Sigli conducted user testing and quality assurance to ensure
The Floral Supply company approached Sigli to implement and deliver an internal management, logistics oversight and analytics portal accessible via a web app.
The aims were to increase the speed of communication between managers, salespeople, and onsite agents in airports, aggregate data related to logistics and supplier activity, generate client insights and integrate with the company’s existing marketplace and CRM infrastructure.
Here’s what the project looked like on completion:
Development and application infrastructure: we implemented the architecture required to develop and run the app, including CI/CD pipeline, cloud environments and main stack technology.
Streamlined user experience and design: extensive interviewing of end users helped us develop real use cases and prototypes. The result was a highly intuitive dashboard.
Web portal: we launched a user interface for accessing the app, which was accessible via the web.
Stabilization and support: manual testing as part of the QA process allowed us to further stabilize the app. Sigli provided ongoing support to fix bugs, onboard users, and make changes in response to requests.
“Implementation and delivery of the project made it really easy and achievable to retrieve all the relevant data and access vital centralised information on customer’s packages and their travel status, sell and buy orders and their status. The flower delivery business is extremely time sensitive and the optimisations that simplified the decision-making process were very welcome.”
